The 'Call The Midwife' Holiday Special Trailer Brings the Cozy to Christmas

The final two weeks of the year are upon us, and with them, the vacation end of the year hours and the holiday TV. Most British series that run Christmas specials overseas don't find their way over to the U.S. until long after the festive season has passed us by. They are usually tacked to the regular season to act as a winter-themed finale. But Call The Midwife remains the exception to the rule, with Christmas cheer that airs day and date over here on PBS.

Part of the reason for keeping Call The Midwife Christmas where it belongs is that, unlike other shows, the Christmas special frequently works as a lead-in to the new season.  Due to its proximity to the show's usual January berth on the BBC schedule, airing only a week or two before the show starts, it doesn't work as a capper from the previous year. However, Season 10 arrived later than usual overseas and not until Fall on PBS, so one had to wonder if the new special will remain a set up for new drama?

The answer is yes. With the show moving back to January for 2022, the Christmas special will act as a Season 11 prequel rather than a Season 10 finale. And the new teaser promises it's a cozy one, filled with snow, presents, and a wedding.
