'A Discovery of Witches' Season 2 is Set to Premiere in January

Fantasy romance A Discovery of Witches is headed back to our screens in 2021.

Season 2 will premiere on January 8 in the U.K. on Sky One and Now TV, before arriving in the U.S. just one day later on January 9, via streaming platforms Sundance Now and Shudder.

The series, based on Deborah Harkness's popular All Souls Trilogy, stars Teresa Palmer and The Crown alum Matthew Goode as witch Diana Bishop and 1,500-year-old vampire Matthew Clairemont. Diana, a descendant of the Salem witches, must embrace the magic in her blood when she accidentally unlocks an enchanted manuscript. And the forbidden romance that blossoms between the two puts them in the crosshairs of an interspecies magical war.

The second season will follow Matthew and Diana will be primarily set in the past - Elizabethan England, to be exact - following the pair's trip back in time at the end of Season 1. There, the search for the Book of Life continues, as Diana works to gain control of her powers under the tutelage of a powerful witch. Victoria fans, keep an eye out for star Tom Hughes, as playwright Kit Marlowe, and James Purefory will play Philippe De Clermont, founder of the Congregation and Matthew's stepfather. Awkward.

In the present day, their friends Gerbert, Knox, Satu, and Domenico are trying to find out what happened, while, aunts Sarah and Em are living with infamous witchhunter Ysabeau de Clermont.
