The Full Trailer for Netflix's 'The Crown' Looks Gorgeous

God save the Queen, indeed. Netflix has released the full trailer for its upcoming original series The Crown, and you're going to want to watch it immediately.

The ten-episode series is based on Peter Morgan’s award-winning play The Audience, and is meant to tell the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The first season of The Crown focuses on Elizabeth as a 25-year-old newlywed, faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world’s most famous monarchy while forging a relationship with legendary Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill. The British Empire is in decline, the political world is in disarray, and a young woman takes the throne. In short: A new era is dawning.

Wolf Hall’s Claire Foy stars as the young queen, opposite Doctor Who’s Matt Smith as her husband Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. (Spoiler alert: He kind of looks fantastic as a blonde, just FYI.)  The rest of the cast seems suitably all-star, and includes John Lithgow, Jared Harris, Dame Eileen Atkins, Victoria Hamilton, Vanessa Kirby and more.

The series looks lush and epic – and, quite frankly, riveting. I cannot wait to watch this.
