Fans of Good Omens can finally breathe a sigh of relief: The Ineffable Plan (or at least, Prime Video) has not forgotten them. Almost three years after the cliffhanger finale that concluded the series' second season, we'll finally be able to find out how Crowley and Aziraphale sort out their various relationship issues — and save the world one last time — later this spring.

After all, the initial Season 3 renewal annoucement did hint that the final season would involve the Second Coming and the threat of another apocalypse, precisely the sort of event that only Crowley and Azirphale could possibly thwart. How they'll do that is anyone's guess, given the fact that they essentially broke up at the end of Season 2, but hey, that's what the finale is for.

But while fans are doubtless over the moon that the show's final installment has a release date at long last, Season 3 is still bound to be a bittersweet experience for many. Originally meant to consist of six episodes, the finale will now be just a single 90-minute feature. This change came in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct against author Neil Gaiman, who wrote the original Good Omens novel with the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett.

Gaiman has repeatedly denied any unlawful behavior, but did step down from his roles as showrunner and writer to allow production on the finale to go forward. He has not been involved with the production since, though he apparently did contribute to the writing of the finale in some form.

The finale will see David Tennant (Rivals) and Michael Sheen (A Very Royal Scandal) reprise their roles as the caustic demon Crowley and the bookish angel Aziraphale, whose characters have a lot of ground to cover in just 90 minutes of story. The pair didn't exactly part on the best of terms, with Aziraphale choosing to return to heaven moments after Crowley kissed him.

So, not only do we have to stop a(nother) potential Armageddon, our ineffable faves have to do their respective apology dances, fix their friendship, confess their undying love for one another, and move to a gorgeous South Downs retirement cottage (per longtime internet lore) before the final credits role. It's...a lot!

Beyond Sheen and Tennant, we have no idea who else will be taking part in this final installment but it seems a fairly self bet that many previous cast members will pop back up to see the series off, including but not limited to Nina Sosanya as Nina, Maggie Service as Maggie, Jon Hamm as Gabriel, Shelley Conn as Beelzebub, , Miranda Richardson as Shax, Derek Jacobi as the Metatron, Doon Mackichan as Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Uriel, Liz Carr as Saraqael, and Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel. If the story is about the Second Coming, it also feels extremely likely we'll see Sam Taylor Buck back as Antichrist Adam Young, and maybe even Adria Arjona as Anathema Device or Jack Whitehall as Newton Pulsifer.

Like so much else involved with this finale, we'll just have to wait and see.

The Good Omens finale episode will premiere on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, on Prime Video.
