It’s a new year, a new home for Telly Visions, and yet more changes to the entertainment landscape as we enter the second half of the 2020s. At PBS, 2026 promises a strange dichotomy. Public Broadcasting has finally broken into the monthly Nielsen Streaming Top Ten ratings for the first time since the ratings giant first started issuing rankings with Ken Burns’ The American Revolution. After years of figuring out its place in the new world order, Masterpiece has its most ambitious (and potentially successful) lineup in nearly a decade. Meanwhile, smaller stations are already folding in the wake of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s shutdown, and most stations are still frantically trying to figure out how to survive until 2027.

It’s a challenging time, but your local PBS Passport remains one of the best deals in streaming, even as the long-time $6.99 price tag is finally rising due to funding cuts. Let’s run down everything heading our way for January 2026.

London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2026

For the third consecutive year, PBS Passport will air the New Year’s Parade from London as part of its festive programming. Hosted by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, the Right Worshipful Paul Dimoldenberg, and parade founder Bob Bone, the broadcast promises the best views along the two-mile route.

London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2026 debuts on PBS Passport on Thursday, January 1, 2026. This is exclusive to PBS Passport and is available only on certain stations; check your local listings and streaming services.

From Vienna: The New Year Celebration 2026

Great Performances also contributes to the New Year’s Day lineup with its annual classical music concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. Hosted once again by Hugh Bonneville, this year’s concert will be conducted for the first time by Yannick Nézet-Séguin with performances by the Vienna State Ballet.

From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2026 arrives on Thursday, January 1, 2026, on most PBS stations, the PBS app, the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel, and PBS Passport; check your local listings/streamer.

Astrid (Astrid et Raphaëlle) Season 5

Walter Presents has once again given the honor of kicking off the 2026 lineup of foreign-language series to Astrid (Astrid et Raphaëlle). Lola Dewaere returns as the outgoing and impulsive Commander Raphaëlle Coste, with Sara Mortensen as the high-functioning autistic documentalist Astrid Nielsen. Season 6 has already aired in France and is expected to arrive in 2027.

All eight episodes of Astrid Season 5 join Seasons 1 through 4 on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Blanca Season 1

Walter Presents typically launches new seasons of well-known series to kick off the year; January 2026 features one brand-new title, the Italian series Blanca. Based on the Patrizia Rinaldi 2009 book series, it stars Maria Chiara Giannetta (The Good Apprentice) as the titular blind intern, driven to become a consulting profiler after her sister’s death. Season 1 debuted in 2021, Season 3 aired on RAI in September 2025, so there’s more to come.

All 12 episodes of Blanca Season 1 debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Miss Scarlet Season 6

For those who are not members of PBS Passport/do not subscribe to the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel, it’s been a long wait for Miss Scarlet to return with her Duke replacement. Those platforms landed early access to Season 6 of the series and have been streaming it over the holidays. As always, the show returns to its usual linear slot of 8 p.m. on Sundays in January for 2026, as will our recaps.

Miss Scarlet Season 6 will officially premiere on most PBS stations and the PBS app on Sunday, January 11, 2026. It will air/stream weekly through mid-February. Check your local listings.

All Creatures Great & Small Season 6

If it’s January, then it’s time to return to the Yorkshire Dales on PBS for more charming stories of James Herriot’s life as a country vet. All Creatures Great & Small Season 6 jumps ahead to 1945 and the war’s conclusion as everyone returns to Darrowby to try and rebuild the lives they left behind.

All Creatures Great & Small Season 6 will debut on most PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and stream/air weekly through mid-February. All seven episodes will be available on PBS Passport on release day for members to binge.

Bookish Season 1

One of the biggest hits for Channel 4 in 2025, Bookish is so PBS-coded that it would be a crime against television to stream it anywhere but PBS Passport. The mystery-of-the-week series features Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) as Gabriel Book, an antiquarian bookseller who uses his tomes to solve murders. He’s joined by Bridgerton Polly Walker, as his wife and beard, Trottie, the charming owner of the wallpaper shop next door. Is there anything more PBS than a show where a semi-closeted antiquarian bookshop owner also solves crimes? I think not.

Bookish Season 1 will debut on most PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Starting on premiere day, all six episodes will be available for members to watch as a binge on PBS Passport.

Munch Season 4

It’s been nearly two and a half years since Walter Presents debuted Munch Season 3 in September 2023. But the super-popular police procedural is back with Season 4. Isabelle Nanty returns as “maverick” French lawyer Gabrielle Munchovskican, aka Munch. The popular French police procedural ran five seasons before it ended, so there’s one more season to come.

All six episodes of Munch Season 4 join the first three seasons on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Call the Midwife Season 14

With PBS almost certainly gearing up for Call the Midwife Season 15 to receive its usual “early Passport release” for members, 2025’s Season 14 returns to your favorite PBS station for a binge catch-up ahead of the new season.

All episodes of Call the Midwife Season 14 return to PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Partners in Crime: Potsdam Homicide (SOKO Potsdam S6) Season 2

Childhood BFFs Sophie Pohlmann (Katrin Jaehne) and Luna Kunath (Caroline Erikson) are long gone from SOKO Potsdam as the series rounds into its sixth season. Walter Presents officially rechristened the series from Luna + Sophie to the more generic Partners in Crime: Potsdam Homicide in January 2025, and restarted the numbering with Season 1. Season 2 brings back the new duo Tamara Meurer (Anja Pahl) and Pauline Hobrecht (Agnes Decker) for more friendship and crime-solving.

Partners in Crime: Potsdam Homicide Season 2 will arrive with all episodes on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Sisi: Austrian Empress (Sisi) Season 4

With so many returning shows from all quarters, it’s starting to feel like PBS Passport has a genuinely dependable schedule. German series Sisi: Austrian Empress (Sisi) is also back with its fourth and final season. The series finale opens with a riding accident that leads to the death of Sisi’s father, only for her to return home to find the family castle lost in a wager.

All six episodes of Sisi: Austrian Empress Season 4 arrive on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Channel on Friday, January 30, 2026.
