Sean Bean Prison Drama 'Time' to Premiere on Britbox in August

Critically acclaimed BBC drama Time is officially coming to America this summer by way of streaming platform Britbox.

Written by BAFTA winner Jimmy McGovern (Accused, Moving On), the three-part series is a powerful exploration of prison life, punishment, and penitence. Time reteams McGovern with two of his Accused stars, Sean Bean and Stephen Graham, who play a prisoner and a corrections officer, respectively.

The story centers on these two men, Mark Cobden (Bean) and Eric McNally (Graham). Mark is a fairly average husband and father - except he's responsible for the death of an innocent man. He welcomes his four-year prison sentence as penance for his crime and hopes that it will help alleviate his guilt over what he did. But, as a former teacher, he makes an easy target for the more ruthless inmates in the prison.

Eric is a dedicated officer, doing his best to protect those in his charge at an institution that is understaffed and full of tension. But when one of the prisoners threatens to hurt someone Eric loves, this honest man is faced with an impossible choice.

Two ordinary men - an inmate and an officer - both trapped by mistakes anyone could have made. Will Mark be able to find the forgiveness he seeks? Does Eric have any choice but to betray everything he believes in? And is the current prison system helping or harming those who are part of it?
