The Heist Is Only the Beginning in the Trailer for Prime Video's 'Steal'
The Queen in the North returns to the small screen for a high-stakes thriller.
Former Game of Thrones actors are having a moment this winter. From Iain Glen in Agatha Christie's Seven Dials (Netflix) to Kit Harington in Industry (HBO) and Emilia Clarke in Ponies (Peacock), the former denizens of Westeros certainly seem to be doing alright for themselves after leaving the world of dragons, White Walkers, and George R.R. Martin behind. Such is also the case for the Queen in the North, Sophie Turner, whose new high-stakes heist drama marks yet another intriguing choice in her career trajectory.
Previously known as Haven, the renamed Prime Video thriller follows the story of Zara (Turner), an office worker with a boring and unfulfilling day job at a pension investment firm. But her daily grind takes a sharp turn when a gang of thieves bursts into her workplace and forces her to take part in an elaborate crime meant to steal billions from the retirement accounts of ordinary people.
Unlike many series of this ilk, however, Steal doesn't appear to be about the specifics of the heist itself or how this pack of criminals managed to pull it off. Instead, the series is concerned with what comes afterward, when Zara's life is turned upside down by everything from the involvement of MI-5 to attempted kidnappings.
Here's the series synopsis:
A typical work day at a pension fund investment company, Lochmill Capital, is upended when a gang of violent thieves burst in and force Zara and her best mate Luke to execute their demands. But who would steal billions of pounds of ordinary people’s pensions and why? DCI Rhys is determined to find out, but as a recently relapsed gambling addict, Rhys must keep his own money problems at bay while dealing with the secret agendas and competing interests at the center of this far-reaching crime.
Alongside Turner, the cast also includes Archie Madekwe (Saltburn) as Zara’s best friend, Luke and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (Bodies) play DCI Rhys, a detective with a relapsed gambling problem who must keep his money issues under wraps as he’s assigned to investigate this sweeping financial crime.
The series is created and written by Sotiris Nikias, with Sam Miller (A Gentleman in Moscow) and Hettie MacDonald (Howard's End) splitting helming duties across the six episodes. Executive producers include Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza, with Nuala O'Leary as producer. Amazon MGM Studios is producing alongside the U.K. production company Drama Republic.
Steal will premiere with all episodes on Prime Video on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
